2022 BBF & CRESCENT KIDS FREE SCD CLINIC

On August 12, 2022, the Brain and Body Foundation joined forces with Crescent Kids Foundation to host a free clinic to provide free meals and supplements that would help improve the quality of life of individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease.

Sickle Cell In Nigeria: Our “Endgame” – To reduce the death rate of children living with Sickle Cell Disease from 75% to less than 10% by 2025.

Our goal is to drastically reduce the number of children dying each year, as a result of Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD). To achieve that, Doctors and Healthcare Professionals need to prescribe immune support supplements in addition to folic acid and anti-malaria.

The BBF Staff (L-R: Peculiar Obiukwu, Daniel Bowman, and Solomon Adomi) along with some volunteers and the Executives of Crescent Kids Foundation.

The following are some of the free services offered at the SCD outreach:

About 50 patients were present at the free clinic. We conducted a thorough medical review by asking questions. The questions may cover symptoms, general condition or feeling of the patient, any health concerns, and the results of previous medical tests.

Crescent Kids, our free meals sponsor, provided home-cooked meals for over 60 people, the children and guardian/parents are inclusive. Great smiles were seen on an ample amount of faces for this gesture and everyone was glad.

Supplements were administered to the patients, these supplements were a combination of Vitamin-C, Vitamin-D, Zinc, and other needed nutrients, which have all been proven to help strengthen the immune system and significantly improve the quality of life of these children.
