Care That Reaches People.
As part of the September Sickle Cell Awareness Month, the Brain and Body Foundation (BBF) organised a clinic focused on providing support, care, and essential supplements to beneficiaries living with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD).
The clinic brought together beneficiaries, caregivers, supporters, volunteers, and partners in a shared effort to promote better health outcomes and increase awareness around these conditions.
Patient Impact
At the clinic, we served 132 Patients. The beneficiaries were categorised into two major groups:
Sickle Cell Disease (SCD): 70 patients (22 new patients and 50 returning patients)
Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD): 60 patients (18 new patients and 42 returning patients)
Clinic Highlights
During the clinic, essential nutritional supplements were provided to beneficiaries. A total of 12 bottles of Vitamin D3, 7 tubs of Vitamin C, 30 bottles of Zinc Picolinate, 14 packs of Magnesium Glycinate, 20 bottles of Vitamin B Complex, and 28 bottles of Melatonin were distributed, providing beneficiaries with important nutritional support as part of the clinic’s health and wellness programme.

Engage with community partners and supporters.
Promote awareness of Sickle Cell Disease and Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
Share experiences and encourage one another.
Strengthen community participation in health and wellness initiatives.
Community Partnership
Partnership with Rotaract AbujaFor the September Sickle Cell Awareness Month Clinic, Brain and Body Foundation partnered with Rotaract Abuja, led by Rita Akhinme, President of the Rotaract Club of Abuja Unity.
The partnership contributed to the success of the clinic by bringing together additional support and community engagement around the beneficiaries.

During the programme, Rita Akhinme also admonished and encouraged the beneficiaries and supporters, highlighting the importance of resilience, community support, and continued commitment to improving the lives of people affected by Sickle Cell Disease and other health conditions.
